I’ve played it this game…and the challenge is insane, but it is so addictive!!!!
I was sold on getting a copy of BattleField 3, Batman Arkham City, and gears of War 3. Its just that I’ve already got bf3 on the way too me.
and I think Rage is just alright, not awesome!
Dark Souls…solid, but perhaps
Deus Ex…but augmented edition only…hmmmmm? Its so awesome that it had returned to San Andreas!!!! The graphics look very intriguing. I do however hope it is unique and doesn’t feel the same as GTA San Andreas.
Valid, I just wonder if a game is still as appealing after the hype has died down. I can say for me personal, once a game passes its release date…my hype and anticipation kind of dissipates. I will say that has literally turn me from raving mad for a chance to play gears of War 3 & arkham city to mellowing out.
I will probably be just as hungry to play them once I get a hold of a copy.
Currently, Rentals include:
Dark Souls
Assassin’s Creed Revelation
RAGE
Call of Duty: MW 3
Crysis 2These are all really awesome games, but I would much rather invest in other games….unless the prices go down ALOT for them.
Scatigno;41929 wrote:Great topic.Honestly, I hate how big reviews for games have become. I believe that it does directly affect sales and peoples perceptions of a game. I remember back in the late 90’s to early 00’s when I never looked up reviews for games. I mean I read reviews because I used to buy a shit ton of gaming magazines before I had the internet, but I didn’t actively seek out reviews to determine whether or not I bought a particular game, and to be honest, back then the reviews didn’t really bother me because I too young to even understand about all the technical aspects, and my wanting of the game pretty much came from seeing Screenshots, Boxart and playing the demo disc that would come with the Official Playstation Magazine.
Shit gets heated nowadays. I’ve had many heated discussions with Brook and Talon about ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’ games. I do read a lot of reviews now these days and sometimes they do determine whether or not I go out and buy it, but even now, if a game looks good to me then I will pick it up, despite what negative criticism it gets. Dead Island is a prime example of that. It got raped in the reviews, but it looked like fun from what I had seen, which made me want to pick it up. Unfortunately, the technical issues just couldn’t be overlooked so I stopped playing it whilst they worked on a patch, and I will go back to it soon.
We live in the internet age now where Gamers are more aware about what they are purchasing and the Gaming Press definitely does influence that. I try to play as many games as I possibly can due to being part of GameManx and actually having the means these days to buy my own games pretty much whenever I want instead of having to wait for Christmas or my Birthday to receive them as gifts.
Unfortunately I believe we have lost the days where a person walks into a game store and buys something that looks appealing to them. Like I said, gamers are too aware these days, and a game can either live or die based on it’s metacritic score. The consequence of that is a lot of gaming gems will be lost.
Solid points. I think it is good that gamers are aware actually. It’s good to know what most are saying about a game and have an idea of where your $60 is going towards.
On the same token, the obsessive need of gamers to hear someone else support a game they are into is bad.
Even if a game is critically panned, if you like that style of gameplay, go for it. You are the one who is supposed to enjoy it. Your $50-$60 investment should go towards something you like. I love the Dynasty Warriors games & anime based games(DBZ & Naruto). The reviews were unbelievably negative towards both, I purchased several of them & would love playing them…and then trade them in when a new one was releasing. lol
So, what makes the gaming press bad if anything isn’t so much them in themselves, it is more so gamers wanting to be co-signed before investing in a game.
Gaming press reviews should only be taken into consideration, not be the end all be all of purchasing a game.
Xbox 360! I’m officially converting from CoD. lol
They need to start producing new IPs. Period. The innovation of the console can’t be the only thing they offer games. That’s the mistake they made with the Wii. They need to start continuing to strengthen their iconic IPs with releases every few or so years(not too often), but they also need to start inventing new IPs because their reliance on old triumphs will end up screwing them over and stuck in the past like they were this console generation.
I’ve not played any Battlefield,I’m COD biased, but I can say from experience that shooters in general have always seemed very closed communities to me like Ghost Recon & Such.
From my experience with COD, it was frustrating just to get destroyed by people who had become so uber skilled that you stood no chance beyond respawning & dying.COD was refreshing to me when 1 first played MW2(which was my first game in the series)….black ops felt redundant.
I’m transferring to the Battlefield 3 online community to see how things differ.
^^
true, but that’s smart only if you’ve got blockbuster IPs to begin with. Nintendo is blessed to have that, but I feel like they need to start seriously working hard to get their 3rd party support in order.
Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 Install Size Revealed and Confirmed. Day One Update Live. | Trendy Gamers
The link above includes the download sizes and install sizes need for the various platforms for this game. Xbox 360 gets it the worst. For heads with the original 360…well….are going to need a flash drive to hand all of that data.
Valid. Madden & CoD are pretty bad offenders. Battlefield has also been releasing yearly games for awhile now. I think publishers really want to play it safe, especially with the economy the way it was a few years ago(and still is somewhat now). Taking a huge risk is unideal & safe secure IP’s are sure to always give a solid profit.
I would probably say some the 9th wonder track Smoke the pain Away with Memphis Bleek & Some of the cuts off of Episodes of A Hustler by Big Noyd…with some incredible beats from havoc, but Noyd just can’t hold these tracks together to save his life.
I’ve played so much COD that Battlefield seems like a refreshing choice just to get a new take on the modern war shooter niche.
True. Innovation is not often supported well & the amount of money going behind designing such games are big challenge to alot of developing studios. It is so much easier just to release several sequels & prequels and call it day. I think the newest niche for innovations is the small downloadable game projects which are small scale and require little investment.
