Gaming has always been one of the few industries were quality has been water down because games that were utter crap would usually sell bad & the critical press would denounce them. Do you see this remianing the same or do you think it is beginnin to change?

To me its biggest marketing budget OWNS. Call of Duty is an decent series and they market the shit out of it so it sells. Look at every rockstarr game. The pump tons opf maney and get tons of hype and tons of sales. Games like vanquish and bayonetta get no play or media exposure because they have no marketing budget but they are great games.

It’s true that the money budgeted to titles that are unknown or could possibly do bad are not plugged heavily until they establish themselves as a blockbuster IP. I’m just happy that gaming has not become what hip hop has. The big companies and organizations have not yet found a cheap way to rehash material and making everything the same with consistent success. The worse offenders have been tony Hawk & guitar Hero.

I agree man. Yeah, hiphop is just about all cookie cutter unimaginative bullshit minus the rare exception. Thats why I support games like catherine, mirrors edge, vanquish etc that’s taking chances doing things creatively different.

What the fuck are you guys talking about. You guys never post Madden football? They started the yearly games. Sure their were Celtics vs Lakers, Bulls vs Blazers and PGA Golf… but Madden was the first game to put a number on the season. 20+ years and counting.

I do not want Trophies, Money or not even a title saying I am number "1". You can have your cheap trophies, paper titles, and dingy headbands. Valid. Madden & CoD are pretty bad offenders. Battlefield has also been releasing yearly games for awhile now. I think publishers really want to play it safe, especially with the economy the way it was a few years ago(and still is somewhat now). Taking a huge risk is unideal & safe secure IP’s are sure to always give a solid profit.

true, but that’s smart only if you’ve got blockbuster IPs to begin with. Nintendo is blessed to have that, but I feel like they need to start seriously working hard to get their 3rd party support in order.
