Well my Collectors Edition didn’t turn up today, can’t say I’m too surprised considering it’s being sent by the same people that took 4 weeks to deliver my NFS: Hot Pursuit.
Unfortunately the CE is exclusive to this particular site and can’t be bought in store so nothing I can do but wait it out. It’s just annoying that there is no option you can choose to guarantee release date delivery.
01/28/2011 at 8:56 pm #48742I beat dead space last night. Overall it was a great game and did live up to the hype.
Some great graphics and sound and really nothing major to complain about but still things that could be improved so im looking forward to see what they do in part 2.
Here is a list of things that I would like to see improved in Dead Space 2:
– New game + for any diffculty (keeping weapons and items and going with them to a harder mode)
– The bodies and items ragdol funny as shit and it would be nice if it was more realistic. Like you can kick around things that should be heavier when you walk up to them.
– more variety in environments
– more gimmicks. This game only had the zero gravity, and getting pulled at random but the kracken arm thing. Hope this new game relies on these less and introduces many more.
– more/other uses for the stasis and Kinesis power. Kind of like how in bioshock you could get resourceful. lol
– a true need for more weapons. You really dont need anything but the plazma cutter and pulse rifile in dead space one. A real reason and more weapon use strategy would be nice.
– more enemy types
– more boss fights
– better costume variation visually as you level it up
Interested to see whats next. Im about to play Dead Space Ignition then extraction then Dead Space 2
01/28/2011 at 9:06 pm #48743Ye i’m abit concerned about the ‘more variety in environments’ part. I think from a few of the reviews I have read they were saying that you don’t really feel like your in this huge sprawling space city because a lot of the game is still pretty much a corridor shooter like the first one, so it sounds disappointing, but we won’t know until we play it.
Also, I hated the zero gravity parts of the first game. Well, maybe hate is a strong word but they just made me feel really nauseous lol, so I hope there is less of that in the sequel.
01/29/2011 at 1:41 pm #48752So I beat the first game earlier and overall it was really good. There is definately some things I want to see in the 2nd one, mainly more variety in environments like you said Brook and some more colour.
Although the ‘on the fly’ inventory system is mostly good it becomes frustrating when you are overrun by necromorph and you need to heal. I found myself dying a few times just because my health was too low and by the time I reached the medi-kit slot in my inventory I was sliced in half and had to restart from the last checkpoint. So it would have been easier to map the medi-kits to the dpad, instead of having 4 slots for guns, when I only used 2. Or have I completely missed it and that feature is already in there? lol.
So overall ye it was really good despite the few issues I had, and my Collector’s Edition got delivered this morning so i’ll be starting part 2 tonight.
01/29/2011 at 11:08 pm #4875301/29/2011 at 11:19 pm #48754Yo I just played the opening chapter and I can tell they definately upped the ante with this one. It looks better, controls better, ye man I can’t wait to get more into it.
I also played the first chapter of Extraction and it seems really good. The Move controls work really well. I like how you just have to twist your wrist to change to the alternate aim. Feels really good, and I’m also using the Navigation controller so opening doors and using stasis feels alot more natural, so I recommend doing that.

Damn I’ve only just reached Chapter 4 and already I’ve been through a hospital, a subway, apartments and now a church lol
I definately see what you mean Brook with the whole Bioshock thing. I think they definately took inspiration from that, even down to the little jingles that play next to the stores and billboards.
I’m loving this shit. It’s definately still very creepy despite the faster pace and I’ve had a few ‘shit me up’ moments that were totally unexpected.
01/31/2011 at 11:47 pm #48780So Brook I’ve just been thinking, I know you enjoyed the first Dead Space game despite the lack of variety in the environments, so that leads me to believe that if you gave it a chance and finished your playthrough you would also really enjoy Alan Wake.
Looking back on both of them I actually enjoyed Alan Wake more, the whole psychological theme around it I believe is better than your run of the mill jumpy scares that are in Dead Space.
I don’t know man, I recommend giving it another go.
