Because after beating it you have the ability to play through again using your same character (with all upgrades and armor, items, etc). And you unlock the Insane mode after you beat it once.
i just want to beat it for the achievements then it goes back to gamefly

Gaming has changed a lot lol.
I will admit Dead Space can be a difficult game to convince yourself to play…because it’s so fucking spooky.
The only way I’m getting through it is with cheat codes (yes, Dead Space cheat codes can be used without disabling achievements, so you can use them and still get achievements, it definatly helps you out and makes you feel a little safer on the ship.) And I’m using a guide that I found online.
The guide I’m using is http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/dead-space/faq/g-2007092414531265010/c-280885
It’s helping me a lot.
The cheat codes are:

Also, some codes may only be enabled once per game. Additionally, codes that have multiple tiers (for example, credits) only take effect when activated in order (lowest to highest).Refill Stasis and Kinesis energy

It has been confirmed by several people (including myself, as I used the cheats last night and still unlocked 7 achievements after using them. And I’ve read up and researched on it, and the cheats WILL NOT disable your achievements. They only help you.

Completion bonuses
Successfully complete the game on any difficulty to unlock Ten Power Nodes, 50,000 credits, Level 6 Military suit schematic, Impossible difficulty, and the back story log entries.Wear Military suit in Impossible mode
Successfully complete the game in New Game Plus mode with the Military suit bought and equipped, and save the game immediately before the final Boss. Once the game ends and the credits begin, skip them, and do not save the game when prompted. Instead, immediately start a new game on the Impossible difficulty to start with the Military suit.Hidden message
Take the first letter of each chapter and arrange them in order to spell out the sentence “Nicole is dead.”Secret message key
In Chapter 1, just after you repair the claw for the tram, hit your objective finder. Follow the blue line into the hallway where you need to go. Stop as soon as you enter the hallway, and look up at the catwalk above your head; ignore the alien for now. Walk until you find the first corridor on the right. Walk in there to see writing in an alien language all over. Look down to see a message in English that reads “Don’t listen to their lies, read what they’re really saying.” Keep reading to find a key that shows the alien language, and below that English letters from A to Z and 1 through 0. Although not everything will be legible, you should be able to decipher enough to understand what is written.Finding the Peng Treasure
You must be on the flight deck on Chapter 13. When in the flight room where your ship “used” to be, look between the walkways. You should see a statue. Pick it up with kinesis, and you will get the Peng Treasure and “There’s Always Peng!” achievement. It can also be sold for 30,000 credits.Defeating the final Boss
Do not be intimidated by its size. Though massive, it is easy to kill. The following was done on the Medium difficulty. When the battle begins, notice you are “caged in” by the Boss’ tentacles. Notice the yellow “blooms” around the Boss’ mouth. Shooting each one will get you closer to killing it. However, after shooting a few of them, the Boss will grab you and hold you in the air. During this time, it may appear you are helpless. Aim whatever weapon you are using at the time and shoot the yellow blooms. After a few shots, you will be dropped. The Boss will then begin slamming its tentacles at you more frequently. They are very easy to avoid. Strafe left to right constantly. They will never hit you. The Boss will roar, shoot a few exploding cells at you, or will drop enemy pods upon you. This part is also easy, considering it is usually only two small Necromorphs. After you destroy the blooms, you will notice a “caged” area underneath the beast. Under this rib cage lies its many hearts. Use the same strategy used for the tentacles. After a few times, the Boss will open up again. Unload on the Boss to kill it.11/18/2008 at 1:53 am #31500Achievements

Lmao at the demo. It won’t really make anyone wanna buy it.
But it will give you a free scare (even for people that already played past the demo part or beat it) because it doesn’t play out the same way that part did in the game.
I almost pissed myself..

Check it out.
11/29/2008 at 6:59 am #31915Just beat it.
Didn’t like the last hour of the game much at all, kinda disappointing…
And the ending was terrible, but I did piss my pants and jump ten feet outta my seat tho
11/29/2008 at 10:51 am #31967I replayed the last chapter…And that end part has me so confused…
I want to know what the fuck happened…If Isaac is dead I’m gonna be fucking pissed. Why couldn’t they just give it a solid ending. this shit is so up in the air right now, you dont even know where they’ll go with a sequel, you dont know if hes dead or alive…so many unanswered questions, so much confusion

i read somewhere that there will be future dead space games so any loose ends in the first game will get tied up.
11/29/2008 at 11:00 am #31970Yeah they’ve already confirmed and supposedly have started working on the sequel (maybe a late 2009 release or early 2010).
But I wanna know now

No questions are answered with the ending of this one… :,(
08/07/2009 at 6:37 pm #39866rented this game yesterday, have completed the first 3 levels, it’s so not scary loool, maybe cos i have the sound muted and i’m just listening to music whilst playing, it’s been pretty easy thus far, only died once cos these little fucking spiders jumped one me, i didn’t even know wtf they were until there were about 7 on me. one thing i noticed which is kinda lame is that the guns seem to all kill enemies the same, like no gun has a clear advantage over the others, like i dnt get annoyed when i run out of ammo for all guns except the plasma cutter, in fact i ue the plasma cutter the most
game is meh, wouldn’t recommend buying, just rent it complete it and send it back
