You’re pretty much asking for Nintendo to not be themselves. Expect the next system to be similar to the Wii except it will display games in a HD resolution.

All I really want from them is more accurate motion sensing. Maybe, more partnerships like what they’re doing with Tecmo on Metroid.

The controversial part of the level wasn’t as controversial as it could have been to me. I only shot the security people since you really didn’t have a choice, but the one thing that kept that level from being impactful was the animation. That has always been something that CoD needed work on. After playing games like Uncharted and Assassin’s Creed, animation in most games seems oudated. I think the parts of the game that were most impactful to me were the levels in VA and DC. It was a lot of the little things that gave it a chilling effect. Certain signs looked familiar, the Emergency Broadcast said things very close to what I’ve heard before and, of course, seeing the different memorials destroyed (memorials that I’ve been to in the last couple months).

Brook, I think the reason why you’re feeling like MW2 is generic is because pretty much every shooting game has borrowed from the CoD series. Either the control scheme or the way multiplayer works. The multiplayer in COD4 has set the benchmark of all games after it. That’s why Uncharted 2 plays the way it does. Infinity Ward has found a great way to keep people wanting to play. You are constantly being rewarded in this game. And I had fun killing all of you yesterday. We should do it again. :D

apparently the ps3 version is overall slightly better plus the free joker content on ps3. See a good comparison here with proof:

edit: but this comparison of the demo says the 360 demo is better…

          http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-batman-demo-showdown-blog-entry

The PS3 version of the game looks better than the PS3 version of the demo. I’m not sure what happened, but it might have been better optimized after the demo.

Honestly though, the games look nearly identical. The difference (if there is one) between the two is so slight that you can’t really tell when looking at screen caps. Get the game on whatever system, but I think fans of batman should get the PS3 version because it has the Joker content. The Joker content is just challenge rooms, but he does play different enough to warrant it’s existence.
And as far as I know that’s never coming to the 360.

My biggest concern about Bioshock 2 is that I don’t think anyone really knew what they wanted to do with the game before they started. The first Bioshock felt like 2k Boston knew what they wanted to do and where they wanted to go with the story (even if it should have ended at the big twist).

I think parts of Bioshock 2 are going to be pretty good. Those parts are probably going to be from 2k Marin. The parts I don’t like might end up coming from the other 3 studios: Digital Extremes, 2k Australia and Arkane Studios. I’m hopeful that 2k Marin can reign in the other studios and take control of this game before it’s too late.

There are some decent picks in there, but this is only good if you need something cheap for August and early September.

Hopefully, this new studio takes what Starbreeze did with the story, narrative and just overall immersion and adds some good shooting to it. That’s the only problem with Starbreeze games, they are great first-person experience, but shooting in them isn’t good.

Also, I’d prefer if they just left the multiplayer out. There are too many great multiplayer FPS’s out for a Darkness sequel to include something that isn’t going to matter.

Oblivion – Picked it up again to go through the Shivering Isles stuff
COD4 – Trying to see how far I can get on the 360 before MW2 comes out
Suikoden – Never played it before and I bought it off the PSN store so I can have something to play on my PSP
Street fighter IV – watching EVO got me back in it, but I still suck at the game.

come out! What games are you guys anticipating?

I’m looking forward to all except the bold ones. WET and Alpha Protocol look generic as hell. I’ve been skeptical of Bioshock 2 since it was announced and the fact that 4 different development studios are working on it at the same time and it gets delayed doesn’t make me think it’ll be anything more than a cash in on the first one. I don’t know what Split Second is. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 looks okay, but I’m not buying that at full price.

Everything else looks good. I have moderately high expectations for Dante’s Inferno. If Dead Space turned out to be a great game then so can this one.

And MAG is going to, probably, take all the people that play Socom: Confrontation because it’s the original Socom devs and their multiplayer stuff is always good.

You can’t write everything, but you can write a lot of stuff. Just as long as it isn’t profane or something copyrighted like Bugs Bunny.
Some people even wrote keyboard cat and it showed up, so the database of nouns is pretty massive. Plus, they were taking notes during E3 and if someone picked something that didn’t show up, they are going to try and put it in the game.

Kojima is smart and knows what happens when a 360 game gets ported to the PS3 from the 360. His team will do it like Criterion did with Burnout. Lead on the PS3 and both versions will be better for it.

Oh I know how little we get when it comes to PSone games. I’d say we generally get more demos and DLC in NA, but as far as PSone games go, Japan’s store is crazy compared to everyone’s. That has more to do with the fact that each region gets to do what they want. So, you’ll rarely see consistency among the different stores.

No people this is a fairly recent policy shift. DLC and demos don’t show up on PSN for other reasons. DLC for Fallout 3 may never show up on the PS3 because Bethesda and Sony don’t have the best of working relationships. As far as demos go, Sony doesn’t require it from developers, so they don’t always work on the PS3 version of demos.

This is just a new way Sony is shooting themselves in the foot. Hopefully, all of this press about it will make them change it, but not likely. MS takes a fairly large chunk out of what each developer sells DLC for.

I don’t know if I agree with you saying that the RE series is supposed to be scary. I always felt like they were trying to give you a good amount of tension, but never actually scare you. As far as tension goes there is plenty of it in this game. As far as survival horror games go, RE has always been heavy on the survival and light on the horror. That hasn’t changed in this one. If anything, every time I know I’m about to get to a boss, I’m dreading it. I’ve never gone into any of the boss fights feeling prepared. I’ll look at my ammo and say “damn, I wish I had some more.” Yet I always seem to make it out by the skin of my teeth. That’s probably the best part about the game.

I never felt like there were too many zombies in the game, but we should be used to that, since RE is an action heavy game.

My only complaint is that RE5 didn’t have more segments where you and your partner we split up. The parts where you would be in the same area, but too far away to save each other if you needed it were great moments of building tension, especially towards the end.
