Maybe its beacuse your younger and you grew up when the later albums were out but as someone who lived through the release of ALL MJ solo albums I can tell you that the newer albums you love so much (LOL) are not as good overall. Matter of fact Thriller had more hits on that one album than any of those other ones did and still holds that record to this day as most hit songs at #1 off the same album.
And by the way Scream is a horrible song… and Black & white … srsly? Those are like his worst.

Thriller did not sell that much off the song content alone.
It was the videos which sky rocketed the album and the Motown 25th Anniversary Performance of Billie Jean.
Bad sold something stupid too like 30 Mill and thats like his most CHEESIEST album to date.I don’t know how you can say Black or White is one of his worst songs. In a world that is filled with racial hate and tension wherever you go, i think a simple statement like ” I don’t matter if you’re black or white ” is a very powerful statement indeed.
Oh and ‘Off The Wall’ is highly regarded as his best album musically and that also sold less than Thriller. Again Sales do not make a great album.

You missed the point. The point is that all those albums that really made him famous were done prior to the wack era you love so much. The bottom line is that in the case of MJ the time when he was selling the most he actually did have better music. crazy but true. And black and white is pretty wack when you look at his catalog over all. Even Off the wall which you admit is best is from the era I am saying was his best and is like 10 years before your favorites.

I never actually said that from the Dangerous album onwards were my favourite albums.
I said that people seem to think he fell off after the Jones/Jackson era, which i believe isn’t true. They didn’t sell as well but that doesn’t mean the albums were WACK. Far from it.
Look we all know things started to go wrong after the child abuse accusations back in 1993. It shocked the world and Michael lost alot of his fan base, that was a major factor in why those albums did not sell as well. Not because the albums were bad. Thriller was a once in a lifetime feat and it was impossible for michael to top it and impossible for any other artist to ever top it. After the accusations in 93, people judged michael, not the music.Oh my Favourite album of all time is Thriller, not just by Michael Jackson, by any artist. That album has been my number one for as long as i can remember

Come on man, ok look at it this way. Nas’ Illmatic is highly regarded as THE GREATEST HIP-HOP ALBUM EVER MADE and how much did that sell. Did it even go platinum when it was first released. I know it didn’t sell that much.Look at 50 Cents The Massacre. That was a terrible album and i think it sold more than 10 Million.
Thriller sold that much off the back of the thriller video and the Motown Billie Jean performance, FACT!!!!

Put it in perspective… even though it sold more everyone still thinks its better. The sales though in this case is indicative of the popularity and how good it was. It sold that much because 9 songs were #1 on the chart for months. The most #1 songs from the same album EVER. It ruled the whole year it came out.

I’m just saying, it’s wrong to write off everything he did after 1987 because it didn’t sell as much.
OK, the music might not have been as good, but it was far from being WACK, as you said.Put it this way, a not so good Michael Jackson album is a hell of alot better than most of the shit music that is already out there.
