The rumors that EGM Magazine would be shut down that proliferated before and continued after the exit of former EGM Editor-In-Chief Dan (I saw that coming) Hsu have been realized with the announcement of the UGO buyout of the 1UP web network from Ziff Davis Media. There are reports that 30 or so people from the 1UP, Gamevideos and EGM staff were laid off as a result of the sale and word is that the 1UP podcasts will no longer be produced. The podcasts represented the best of the 1UP site and were among the best video game podcasts around so this news is huge loss for many fans.
