Left 4 Dead Survival Mode Impressions

Let’s just get this out the way off the top. Left 4 Dead’s new “Survival Mode” is HARD! For those that don’t know, the good people at Valve were gracious enough to release a free update this week that adds a “Survival mode” to Left 4 Dead.

The update requires 101.18 MB’s of storage space.

The new Survival mode is pretty self explanatory. You have to stay alive as long as you can. Once the zombies start coming the clock starts counting. So back to the difficulty. This mode is no walk in the park. The zombies come hard, fast, and in numbers. You are better off having a strategy before alerting the horde. This brings me to me next point. Play this with friends! This mode as with the main game is much more fun with people you know. If you play with random people you will encounter a random douchebag who will shoot out the wood plank bridge your crossing over, or will stand there while your killed by a smoker. So yeah, grab a friend if you can.

Everyone’s times are recorded so you can try to beat your best time. Just about all of the areas from the game are up for survival play so there is some variety. The bottom line is that this is a reason to pick Left 4 Dead back up off your shelf. Hey this is free so what is there to not like about this? Right?
