This MTV interview with Jay-z attempts to go into why Young Hov is associating with the new DJ Hero game along with rapper Eminem.
Jay-Z asserts that he is in it to expand the genre and that he was a gamer. I am not sure how much more hip-hop can or needs to be expanded as hip-hop is pretty much pop music at this point. Its the money and perhaps aligning his brand as “Jay-Z” with the youth to stay relevant as he is knocking on age 40. As far as gaming is concerned Jay-Z says:
“I was really a gamer. Ask any of the guys. ‘Madden,’ all these types of games, I was really like a problem. It was my thing for a while.”
