After watching the videos of “Sin and Punishment” I sucked it up and payed the entry fee ($12) and I am not disappointed. It is definitely one of the true gems on the virtual console. Sin and Punishment is action packed shooting action and if I did not have work to do I would still be working my way through the game blasting fools. I love the fact that you can save the game and pick it back up from where you left off which was not expected since and its an arcade style shooter.
Video no longer available (originally hosted on GameTrailers).
The controls take a bit to get used to but thankfully there are options to switch it around some although you cannot map your own buttons which kind of sucks. Speaking on the controls, while playing I could not fight the feeling that Sin and Punishment is a perfect example of why Xbox Live arcade shines over the Virtual Console. Had Nintendo added support for the Wiimote and Nunchuck this could have been a legendary Virtual Console release. They should look at the great things done on Xbox Live with the added online and other features on the classic game re-releases. The fact that Nintendo never improves the games it releases on the Virtual Console sucks ass especially when the possibilities are painfully obvious as it is here. So yeah… Sin and Punishment… love it… Nintendo’s not giving a shit by not updating these games with online play support or other extras (like Wiimote support here) does indeed suck ass.
So yeah if you like fast paced on-rails shooters I say download Sin and Punishment. Thumbs up. Could have been two thumbs up with added Wiimote support Nintendo. Could have been two.
