let me do a quick.
Well let so far the game has good Graphics don’t look bad but I see many games with a lot better graphics on both systems. Haven’t explored too much of the world but it looks pretty much similar looking all around. I have no promblem with that but others might. Also to earn money you can kill animals and skin them. From that you can get food, fur or any other parts of the animal that are useful. You can also kill bandits to earn extra cash to active that find a wanted poster and that will active the mission. You can gamble in poker games but I haven’t tried it yet. Mission so far are like any other rockstar mission and require lots of killing. At the begining you do mission on the farm you start the game which mostly are killing animals that are destorying the farms food supply. I had to kill a bunch of rabbits .

So like I said earlier the graphics arent bad but arent great at the same time. They are good but I seen better
Method of transportation is riding horses. They got stamina so you cant keep having them run fast or they will through you of their back.
You start of at a ranch and you can do mission there. Mainly non violent once. Like making sure wolves dont come into the ranch. Keeping rabbits out of the cabbage. Catching wild horses. Keeping horses bandits from the ranch etc…
Random things might pop up went you are traveling lets say a group of bandits are attacking someone, killing those bandits will earn rewards for example a treasure map .
Picking up a wanted poster will start a mission where you have to kill a bandit leader. This will earn you some money and a good reputation.
If you do bad crimes police will be after you. And you gotta escape them in a similar way like in GTA IV. Only difference is there will be a bounty for you. You either have to do enough good deeds or pay it of.
The world from what i seen so far looks about all the same. Not a problem for me but Brooklyn might hate it.
Like any Rockstar game you got safehouse were you can save. You can buy new ones and also he can build a camp in the middle of nowhere to save. Also the game saves after a completed mission.War.

Anyways about 360 version looking better I remember hearing that 360 will look slightly better than the PS3 one. Guess thats not entirely true.
And Brooklyn what time you gonna try it out? Cause I wanna try multiplayer and if you would be on that would be awesome.

Played over an hour and a half. Did a few missions.
I think its a great game so far. The somewhat repetitive environments dont bother me because its well done, its not just brown like Red Faction, I like the art style and lets face it cowboys are bad ass sort of like ninjas and so is the wild west. I dig the wild west theme and its cool that its a change of pace from space marines and killing aliens etc.
The only things that bother me somewhat are the framerate dips when you get on your horse and kick it to move fast… also a tad bothersome is the noticeable pop in of background environment objects and textures. I read that those two things are better on 360 and it does kinda suck but if you only have a ps3 then i wouldn’t sweat it. Honestly it shouldn’t be a deal breaker but yeah it always does kinda sucks to have the inferior version even if its only marginally.
As to how much worse it is on the ps3 it may not be much because people are noting framerate dips on the 360 version. I would just hold off for the digital foundry analysis but they say monday they will post that because they are in the UK and had to buy them as well.
Im going to probably get this after a price drop because the game seems long as shit and I wouldnt be able to get to it for weeks anyway so ill probly get it from gamefly then keep it in a week or so. plus it will be cheaper anyway. Honestly they say the multiplayer isnt all that anyway so…. :confused:
Other than those things the game looks good and seems fun. I would play it through and only stopped because i was tired as shit. Its no uncharted 2 graphically at all but if you think Alan Wake looked good then this is about on par to a bit better that in graphical quality.

Can’t believe I bought this shit on PS3, I so regret it now. Seriously, texture pop in is ridiculous. There is a mandatory install at the beginning and it still took me 5 mins to log into multiplayer. The game then froze on the loading screen as I tried to return to the main menu, so I had to reset the entire thing.
Another thing that is really pissing me off is the fact that the aim and fire buttons are mapped to L2 and R2 by default and this CANNOT be changed. WTF? I hate shooters like that, I need those buttons to be mapped to L1 and R1.
Complete bullshit.

the multiplayer login shit is a known bug on both that they are working on patching.
I got it coz space and szuter got it and Talon said he would be getting it on PS3 too.

So a couple of impressions.
I’ve literally only clocked up 2 hours of gameplay so i’m right at the beginning really.The missions you do around the ranch with Bonnie which are pretty much tutorial were boring as shit.
Graphics are decent i guess but obviously there is far better out there.
Biggest complaint so far are the controls. They are fucking horrible. Seriously.
First of all, going back to what i said earlier about the aim and fire buttons. Being mapped to the L2 and R2 triggers is just not cutting it for me. It feels stupid and unnatural for me and i keep fucking up coz am thinking i’m playing Battlefield and trying to aim and shoot with L1 and R1.I don’t like the fact there is still a run button. For christ sake, let the analogue stick control all that. Push gently forward to walk, push all the way to run. All this hold A to run and tap A to sprint feels achaic.
I find it very annoying that you have to switch the over shoulder view to the left or right when you are aiming with the Dpad.
Again it feels stupid and unnatural, because it means if i am walking forward whilst aiming down the site i have to stop in my tracks because i have to take my thumb off the stick and mess with the Dpad. Usually you would click in the right stick to change, but can’t coz these dumb fucks have mapped the dead eye to that button.They have mapped the cover button to R1. What the fuck dudes. These controls are all to cock.
Horses do not control welll.
The fact that you control their whole directional movement with just the left stick is wank. It’s just not good, especially when you are trying to shoot enemies and wildlife whilst riding. Movement is just not precise at all in these kind of situations.All these issues i have could have been avoided if they had more than one controller setup. Whether it be different presets or just being able to map out my own buttons.
It’s a shame really because i know i would have been hooked on this game by now if it wasn’t for those things.
Anybody else having problems adjusting to the controls.
I have reached the town of armadillo and done a couple of missions there so the game is starting to pick up in that respect which is good.
I am not hating completely on this game, even though it probably sounds like i am. Like i say, the controls are my biggest issue and they could easily sort that shit out with a patch, which they won’t. Bastards!!!!!

You can get used to the controls… I did eventually. The horse controls are not bad at all to me. I mean shit… its a horse you cant stop or turn on a dime when on a horse LOL. Spacebarz was playing the ranch bullshit and loved it LOL. I was like wtf you aint been playing the cool parts like the sheriff missions where you have the shootouts with bandits so not sure whats up with his taste on that haha. but he thinks its the best game ever and im not convinced but it is damn good.
It seems like the kind of game you have to go all in with and there’s just too many other games I’m playing now: super street fighter iv, alan wake, just cause 2, super mario galaxy 2 now… geez …. plus by the time i get around to it the price will drop anyway…
Well I’ve played for about 2 hours this morning and everything is starting to come together now. I got proper boners the first time I went on a bounty hunt and was able to lasso a dude and take him back to town on the horse lol. Shit was crazy.
Starting to get used to the horse now, I had to tackle the combat on horse back by setting the shit to auto aim. Makes it more fluid as the camera doesn’t keep getting lost.
I am beginning to really enjoy it and hopefully tonight some of us can get a posse going.
Oh Szuter, you got the limited edition, where is the soundtrack located? I’ve redeemed the DLC code and got everything apart from the soundtrack.
