DivX, Inc. today announced that DivX video technology will be integrated into PLAYSTATION 3. The popular computer entertainment system will be added to the ecosystem of devices that currently support DivX video playback.

“Our technology will expand the multimedia functionality of PS3 by enabling users to enjoy access to the broad library of content in the DivX digital media format.”

Current PS3 end users will be able to add DivX functionality to their systems via a separate system software update at a forthcoming date.

-the ps3 is not a certified divx device. What does that mean?

-What the means is that you can now store and play divx files

the 360 using divx too but it can only stream the file, you can not store divx files on the Hard drive.

Shyt the system update is not up yet. I just try and watch my Divx movies and the “the data is corrupted” even do I just got done watching it on my 360

you got lucky you Black Attack….. also you can watch WMV (horrible footage) on the PS3. Also, you must copy it to your PS3 just to watch it. It won’t read the Data Disc like a regular Disc.

Sorry everybody. They both have problems. The 360 version you got to go to video and click X and change your video source. On the PS3 you have to upload it onto the PS3 just to watch it. 360 must watch off the disc. PS3 you must watch it off the upload, it can’t be watched off the disc. Both a fuck up. I’m sticking with 360
