I usually like the deals there. I like trading in my old ass NBA 2K and Maddens for a brand new Dead Space
I do have a complaint that I was begging them to give me the art book with Dead Space reserve but they wouldn’t let me have it, and I’ve given free games to this store before. I know the people that work there cus I go there all the time but they wouldn’t let me have the art book, even though I have Gears2, Fable2, Fallout3, Left4Dead all reserved, I just forgot to reserve Dead Space, and they wouldn’t let me have the art book

In response to Shy’s question in the Cod Beta key thread I don’t fuck with Gamesop for the following reasons
1.They always bug the shit out of me to pre-order games which is their job but if I see you every time I decide to make a purchase at your store don’t ask me the same shit when you know how i’ll respond.
2.Why is it that when I buy a new game that was just released the same day they give me a copy that they opened and put on display fuck that I want to open my own shit.
3.The amount you get for trade-ins is straight up bullshit how the fuck does a game I bought a week before trading in only get me $28?.
1. I completely agree. That shit annoys the hell outta me too.
2. I buy new games there all the time, and they don’t have them behind the counter? New games are always wrapped in plastic…Don’t pay the full 60 dollars for a game that they have behind the counter, I never even heard of that, and every new game I’ve bought there has been in plastic…
3. The question to your response is, why would you trade in a game you bought a week ago brand new? And the answer to the 28 dollars is, they can’t give you much because if it’s a game that just came out they have to sell it at 55 dollars (right near 60) so that people won’t just be buying it used, because they need to sell the new copies first. People will pay an extra 5 dollars for a new copy. And the trade in values aren’t bad at all, if they are games you aren’t playing at all anymore, why not trade towards newer ones? Trading in 2 Xbox 360, Wii, or PS3 games gets you an extra ten bucks plus the trade in value, plus 10% if you have a card, plus 20% if you trade towards Fallout 3, Fable 2 or Gears of War 2. Which in total means that trading in Madden 08 and NCAA Football 08 can pretty much get you a new free game. Can’t argue with that. I brought in about 12 old, crappy regular Xbox games the other day and they gave me 100 dollars. I brought in a bunch of old crappy PS2 games a few weeks ago and got about 80 dollars. How can you argue with easy money for used crappy games you don’t play any more? Bottom line, don’t try to trade in your new games, don’t buy games if you think you will end up trading them back in…
So I went there today with Madden 08 and NCAA Football 08 (I had two other copies)…And they gave me a dollar for each copy and that was it…I had two other transactions going through (a purchase of a dvd and a return, or switch, of an xbox arcade compilation disc, because they had given me the wrong disc last time i was there) so I really wasn’t paying attention to the trade in, because I figured I was gauranteed atleast 20 dollars for the trade in of the two Xbox 360 games…and then as I was driving home, I looked at the receipt and noticed 1 dollar and 10 cents for each game, I was like wtf is this shit?
…Aren’t they supposed to atleast give me ten extra dollars for two Xbox 360 games?
You must go to a great Gamestop if they don’t put games in sleeves that are brand new and sale you that shit the only way to avoid that shit is pre-ordering, and as far as me trading in a game a week after release if you would’ve picked up Mercenaries 2 you would have taken that shit back right away. I’m just glad I didn’t pay full price like my boy did for that piece of shit.
^ if the game isn’t cased and the case isn’t in plastic then it’s not new, and you should by no means pay 60 dollars for a game that’s had the seal broken on it.

I have not bought a game at full price at gamestop since I bought the Sega Genesis Collection for PS2 on RELEASE date back in 06 for $19.99 because they had that shit in a sleeve.

the only problem Ive had with gamestop in all my years is I got a broken guitar once but the guy gave me my cash back and called every store in the area to find me another one

I agree with #3, cuz I bought a brand new game for $60 and took it back THE NEXT DAY and only got $28 for it….
but as for #2, thats your damn fault for accepting an open game, if I buy a brand new game their they always give me wrapped, I wouldnt have accepting an open game…and as for #1, its just their job, and the one I go to dont bug you about it, they just have the book sittin out with the release dates

They are really in your face about buying shit, and then when you go all the way there to trade a game in even if you aren’t getting enough you are like fuck it these dudes are lame i just wanna get outta here.
But yeah I’ve never gone to Gamestop and seen a new release in a sleeve? They get them straight from the shipper and put them on shelves…As far as I know? Though now that I think of it…I have seen lots of games labeled as “New” (around the 30 dollar price) and they have no plastic on the game, so I’m guessing they have the games sitting behind the counter in a sleeve, in that case, I wouldn’t buy those ones. Just make sure the case is in plastic, or go to a different store to buy new. But at gamestop I usually trade old games towards new ones to get the extra 30% trade value if I’m buying BRAND NEW for 60$. Only games I buy at that price are ones I know won’t drop for awhile, like Fable 2, Fallout 3, Gears 2. Or ones I just have to have.
