what kind of inputs does your monitor support? what were you using before?
Component > VGA requires a converter box. Both are analog.
HDMI > DVI can be converted via cable or adapter. DVI is just like hdmi (both digital) HDMI can have audio and video in the same cable …dvi cannot.
Best case scenario would be you playing on a TV. Playing a COMPONENT signal on a monitor requires a box. If you do end up needing one get this one. HD BOX PRO
This guy is using vegas pro to combine the mic audio and footage. Maybe you should try that scat?

Brook maybe you can help me out on this. How do these sites like Ign capture gameplay footage from a Nintendo 3DS? You know, so it’s not just some guy holding the camera whilst the other dude plays. When I get my 3DS it would be good to make some proper gameplay videos, like I do using the PVR, but obviously that isn’t going to work, so I need something else. Surely it’s possible.

well the psp has component cables you can buy. adn they are like $15 bucks online. gotta love that. Hopefully the psp2 will also.
Shit. Scat you have inspired me. So here is a list of games I want to capture. Also taking requests. I will try to make sure its good footage of good play not just random play but higher level shit. So ill have to pracice some before I can get these out lol
