ok so i’m feeling to play some gears of war 2, i turn my xbox on and there are these weird dots on screen that keep flashing, i figure it’s the tv, so i turn it off and turn it on again, they were still there…

so then i turn my xbox off, and then turn that back on, got into the game, and again they were still there, i was thinking wtf

now this is a 360 remember, so in the back of my mind i was thinking, please don’t ring-of-death me!!!

ok so then i unplug it and fiddle with the AV cable, thinking it might be something not connected properly

so after that i turn it on again, and i am greeted with ONE FLASHING RED LIGHT, in the bottom right hand corner

i also had the system error code E74, so i look it up, and it means there’s something wrong with the AV cables, so i’m hoping tomorrow i can go to GAME buy a new 360 AV cable, hook it up and it’ll work fine, if not, the i dunno what to do

pray for me!!!

It’s sounds like the same thing that happened to my 360. If it is, a new cable wont fix the problem. It has something to do with the video card. Sorry, but it sounds like you gotta send it in.

hmmm, this kills my hope some what i must say, but it had the error code E74, there are different types, E74 means there’s something up with the AV cable, if it dnt work, i’ll phone them

i hope they not charging too much for an AV cable lol

I just had to drop 60 bucks last month on a new hard drive to fix mine…

Hopefully yours works when you purchase the cables.

I think they are pretty expensive though, like 50 bucks, but I could be wrong…(hope so)

damn, i looked at the GAME website, and they are going for £19.99, wtf!

then i looked on amazon they were £17.97, but i noticed these were the cables with HD wires, since my tv isn’t HD, i thought let me buy a standard one, so i did, total came to £8.90 including p&p

Damn thats fucked up.
Saying that though i’m sure my 360 is on the blink aswel.
For some reason whenever i’m connected to live my disc will just fuck up and i’ll get a message saying “the disc is unreadable”.
Now this can’t just be the disc because i look after my games and it happens on all of them. Even happened yesterday when i was playing Gears with Talon.
360’s have the worst hardware problems ever.

i kno, i used to think the ps3 was unreliable lol

360 seems to be on the blink as soon as it is purchased lol, it’s almost as though the red ring will definately come, it’s just a waiting game lol

i think i’m going to call up microsoft’s customer support tomorrow to see what i sohuld do or if i can get it replaced, i dnt think i’ll be able to get it replaced though as the 3 year warranty does not cover this hardware failure, for goodness sake

My warranty was up though and the guy on the phone basically said “fuck you”.

So I was forced to buy a new hard drive…

In your case it sounds like the av cable thing didnt work, so most likely you are looking at maybe another hard drive? or a new system…

I would do some research…google your error code.

Calling them will get you no where if it’s not covered they will just hang up on you.

Hopefully you won’t have to buy a whole new system…if you do you’re looking at paying around 160-200$. But you can trade in your old system (I pawned off my broken hard drive to gamestop, they gave me 20 bucks plus 2 bucks for Edge card so 22 bucks, plus 6 bucks off the 60 dollar hard drive with Edge card so I ended up spending 32 bucks to fix my 360… it’s working great now.)
