So as you know i’ve got this new laptop, well it’s HD Ready and i’ve noticed that it has got a HDMI socket on the side of it and i was wondering whether you knew if it was possible to hook my PS3 up to it and play it through the laptop.
I’m asking you coz i know you’re into to all these types of technical things. Let me know if you can mate. I’ve got a HDMI cable down at my dads so if i can do then i’m gonna go and pick it up. :^:

it’s not possible, the hdmi socket on the side of the laptop is output, not input

hence u can connect the laptop to a monitor, but u cannot connect a game system and play through the laptop screen

More likely than not the laptop’s HDMI port is for outputting video to a display.

In order to display the PS3 ont he laptop you need to see if the port accepts INPUT signals. If so you can do it.

In short:

If its an INPUT port it may work

If its an OUTPUT port it wont work.

ye i’ve just been looking it all up on google. Its pretty shitty, but it’s also got something to do with needing a TV Tuner aswel and this laptop doesn’t have that.
Oh well nevermind.

Oh and just checked the side of the laptop box where it has the specs and it does say HDMI Output, which means i’m fucked.
