Ok so here I will explain how to set up your controls (to some extent) if your playing with a gamepad or Xbox 360 Controller or whatever. I’m assuming you chose N-Rage’s Direct-Input8 v2 1.83 as a Input plugin in Plugins. So now go to Options -> Input Settings, and you will see this:
First you want to select your gamepad, so go to the Devices tab and in the Device box, select your device from the drop-down menu. (pic) If you don’t see anything here it is either (A) because your PC hasn’t detected your gamepad or (
because the plugin won’t detect the gamepad. After you have selected it you may want to change the DeadZone to 5% or 10%, this will be the sensibility of the joysticks. After this all you have to do is go to the Controls tab, and map all the buttons, d-pad(digital pad) and analog stick. Leave the analog range at 66% and leave the “Real N64 Range” box checked.
Last but not least, go to the Controller Pak tab and make SURE you uncheck the RawData box, as this is the major cause of desync(online problem). Select MemPak from the drop-down menu, then press Save and you’re done. You may want to try your controls out before heading online for play.
