According to new reports, Sony Lawyers are going after the group that has opened up the PS3 system to homebrew. Specifically, Sony has officially filed suit against George Hotz (aka Geohot) on 8 counts for violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
Carnegie Mellon University Professor David S. Touretzky has recently mirrored the Geohot PS3 jailbreak files at Carnegie Mellon. Citing free speech Touretzky likens this to earlier lawsuits and subsequent United States court rulings declaring iPhone jailbreaks legal.
