Why Battlefield Bad Company 2 Is Better Than Modern Warfare 2

In no way is this intended to simply poop on Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare 2 is great at what it is as mainly an arcade style first person shooter. I find Battlefield Bad Company 2 a much more enjoyable experience and here is why. Battlefield Bad Company 2 feels like your in a war and Modern Warfare 2 feels like your in a skirmish.

Slow and Steady

The thing I dislike most about Modern Warfare 2 is that its an extreme twitch shooter. Its probably the biggest twitch game I have ever played. The twitchiest of them all. By the time you see an enemy chances are your dead. You have under a second in many cases to aim and shoot and it can be very frustrating. The game seems to rely a bit too heavily on reflex to me.

Modern Warfare 2 is very fast paced and that may be a plus to many though it seems to me that the characters move entirely too fast. Battlefield Bad Company on the other hand is slower paced. The characters do not move slow but slower than Modern Warfare 2 for sure. I enjoy the pace of Battlefield Bad Company 2 more because it allows for the players to enjoy the environments and war around them. The pace causes tension at time because it takes more to kill a player and the tension feels more like war combat than the quick deaths and respawn cycles of Modern Warfare 2. At times in team deathmatch mode if can feel like your playing hide and go seek. The tension created by seeking, spotting and planning your attack is very fun. The continuity of play is welcome and more fun than the constant respawning in Modern Warfare 2.

Vehicles
Pretty self explanatory but in Battlefield Bad Company 2 you have over 12 vehicles at your disposal.These vehicles are nothing to scoff at either because they add a whole new dynamic not present in the Modern Warfare games. In Modern Warfare 2 you can call in UAV’s but in Battlefield Bad Company 2 you can fully fly and control UAV vehicles. Its on another level. ATV’s, Tanks, Water Jets, Boats, planes and even Black Hawk Helicopters and more are at your disposal.

Also you can fly helicopters while your buddies ride in it and mow down enemies. You whole squad can jump in a helicopter then parachute out of it to surprise attack the enemy. The inclusion of this can cause many “OH SHIT!” moments that is simply not possible in Modern Warfare 2. The great thing is that these moments happen all the time in Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Destructibility:
The environments are destructible and no one is safe. You can blow up walls to make an escape route or kill someone hiding on the other side. Set a plane or chopper on a crash course into a bunch of enemies and parachute out at the last minute. Shoot and clear the trees in a pathway so you have a clear line of sight to shoot down the enemy’s. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is indeed about strategy but in no way is the execution of your strategy ever boring.

War Games
You guessed it. These are WAR games right? Well add all the things I just mentioned. Robust destructibility, planes, helicopters, tanks, and such on enormous maps and you get a setting where multiplayer matches actually feel more like your in a war.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 feels like your in a war and Modern Warfare 2 feels like your in a skirmish.

These are not the only reasons and I think any fan of Modern Warfare 2 should check out Battlefield Bad Company 2. Its a different game on a different level or echelon and I find it many times more enjoyable overall.
