no its external. It looks like a stanadard ds gamecard but you insert a micro sd memory card in it. You put your game (.nds file ) “backups” lol ..on the micro sd memory card you insert the memorycard in the “ds simply” gamecard. You put that in the ds just like any other game and thats it.
