Along with the release of the PlayStation Move motion controller Sony has released this peripheral aimed at shooting game fans. Overall the attachment has a good feel to it. You when you slide the “release” tabs located on the sides you can lift off the clear top cover.
With the clear cover off you can slide in the move controller. Setup is really easy and once in the controller locks inside snugly without scratching the move controller. The loaded attachment feels solid and balanced with good weight distribution. This is an important point because I find that the main reason I usually stop playing shooting games on the move is due to arm fatigue. It feels solid but not heavy.
The trigger is something that typically makes or breaks these types of attachments and I can confidently say that the trigger on the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment is solid. There is no “click” but none is necessary. The trigger has a spring, is pressure sensitive and still tight for pulling quick shots and bursts. The trigger on the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment puts the Wii Zapper’s trigger to shame. Its more ergonomic and feels tighter and more responsive overall
Using the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment with the game “The Shoot” dramatically increased my enjoyment of the game. Holding the gun handle is so much more comfortable than holding the move controller like a TV remote. For this alone the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment is worth every penny.
Be warned though. There are not many games at this point that work well with the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment. Through no fault of this attachment itself though. The Shoot works perfectly but games like Resident Evil 5, and Time Crisis Razing Storm do not work well because you cannot freely remap commands on the Move controllers face buttons to the navigation controller. In Time Crisis Razing storm the shield button is mapped to the move button on top which makes using it with the shooting attachment a pain. The simple option to map that function to the navigation controller would have done wonders and actually made it work well with this attachment. There are not many games that can take advantage of it but if there is one that does I say its a good thing to have for that arcade feel.
I do wish the PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment was available in more varied colors. It retails for about $20 USD though I think a $15 price point would have been more ideal but not a deal breaker at $20.
