Finally a DLC pack that continues the story of the retail game. Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution continues where Borderlands left off. Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap was activated by Hyperion Corporation but things didn’t go according to plan and a revolution was started.

When I first started playing Borderlands I thought the Claptraps were great characters, friendly, funny and always getting in to some kind of trouble. But after some time spent with the game ended up wanting to take out my shotgun and start shooting at them. With New Robot Revolution DLC I got to do just that.

Story
Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap was activated with the objective to get rid of the Treasure Hunters that were stopping their flow of income with all the free guns laying around Pandora. Once INAC saw the treatment of his fellow Claptraps he rallied everyone up and started a revolution. Once the DLC starts you meet with Mr.Blake who will be the one assigning you missions that will lead to you facing the INAC. The story wasn’t the best part of Borderlands and same goes with this DLC. It did have a interesting back story but once the DLC began the story just wasn’t so interesting.

What’s New
The game includes new achievements and trophies. Six new locations with the central hub being Tartarus Station, a little town which includes a train station. In terms of enemies other than Claptraps, all the other enemies have been recycled with just “-trap” added to them. For example different Rakk-Traps, different bandit “–Traps” etc. We also have a few old bosses characters that have return in Trap form. And of course plenty new missions have been added in this installment. Claptrap humor played a great part in the enjoyment. For example one mission was called “Its a Trap….Clap” referencing Star Wars was one of my favorites. Different Claptraps have different sayings when they die. My favorite being “I see… 3, flashing, red lights” poking fun at the Xbox 360. The boss battles were the best part of this DLC. Especially the final boss battle. I don’t want spoil it but it was much better than the Destroyer you face at the end of Borderlands.

More of the Same
The gameplay is exactly the same as in the full game. This is fine because the Borderlands game mechanics were great. You get to run around, kill enemies, collect loot and complete quests. Areas, and buildings don’t look much different from other levels which is fine.

Should I Buy It?
If you love Borderlands Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution is definitely worth 800 MS Points or $9.99. It’s the Borderlands game I love. More fun running around shooting things and collecting loot. It definitely was enjoyable. While it wasn’t the best DLC for Borderlands it sure wasn’t the worst. My favorite was Zombie Island. I disliked Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot but it was probably because I played it by myself.
