The 3D version of Motorstorm Apocalypse was on display and of course I stopped dead in my tracks to check it out. I spent some time first viewing others play the game in 3D with the Stereoscopic glasses on. After that I played a few times. The 3D really does add to the experience of the game. I kind of hate to admit it because the thought of buying an expensive 3D flat screen television makes me queasy.
The glasses fit nicely even over my glasses. The added depth that the 3D effect provides does prove effective when cars pile up in wreck and even just in normal racing as you approach and weave around cars in the race. So yes 3D seems a bit more than a gimmick here. Motorstorm Apocalypse provides so many opportunities for 3D its a very good game to show off the technology. The debris on the road in addition to the cars pops in 3D. The only downside to the 3D appears to be that for the most part the glasses make thing slightly darker in general than without the glasses.
Motorstorm Apocalypse seemed a bit faster than Pacific Rift and what was demoed was set in a decaying urban landscape. The decay and debris totally made sure it felt like a true Motorstorm game and the elements you know and love like boost and the overheat meter are all still there. The online seems to have been expanded and now Split screen players can go online together to race other opponents. I cant wait to see more. I like the urban theme of Motorstorm Apocalypse and what I played did not disappoint at all.
