Story:
Players control Alcatraz, a Force Recon Marine; the successor to Nomad – the main protagonist from the first game. As Alcatraz, players gain ownership of the Nanosuit 2 from Prophet, who returns from the original Crysis. Crynet Systems has been hunting Prophet to retrieve the suit, inadvertently pursuing Alcatraz, believing he is Prophet. The Nanosuit 2 gives players less freedom in their options for tackling situations on the battlefield. The aliens seen in the original game have undergone a major redesign, transforming their ancient, tentacled exosuits into high-tech armored cyborg war machines that stalk the ravaged Faux York City.
Console Comparison:
- 360 runs at native 720p, PS3 runs at 1024×720
- PS3 version is stretched horizontally leaving a ‘stretched’ effect
- Occasional tearing but is basically invisible during gameplay
- Both versions employ temporal AA and also use edge detect blur for the foreground
- PS3 has better texture filtering
- 360 has better framerate than PS3 version
- In the most stressful areas PS3 actually manages to hold the framerate a bit better than the 360 even though the 360 commands the framerate advantage
- Shadow offset issues on PS3 but on closer inspection the PS3 shadows are less blocky
Screen Captures I took:

My videos of singleplayer and multiplayer are rendering now and should be up soon on the homepage with my impressions.

Played the first 30 mins of it. Game looks pretty gorgeous I must say. Brook, why don’t you buy this on Steam now that you shit is up and running. I heard it was dirt cheap. Anyway, I took some screens from the gameplay I recorded. Obviously these screens don’t do it justice but they seem to have done a really good job of making it run on consoles. I’ve seen little to no texture pop-in, no noticeable frame drops. Shits good man. It might actually persuade me to pick up Crysis 2 now.
