Hey y’all..I need someone to recommend a good fighting stick. I’ve been listening to the podcast and I see that y’all are big on the fighting games. You all have been getting me hype to get on some of these fighting games like Street Fighter 4 and Blazblu. Actually I use to big on street fighter back in the day. Anyhow let me know what stick I should get. So I can start whooping some ass lol. I see one from MadCatz that look good but it’s expensive. I think it’s the tournament street fighter edition.

Ye the MadCatz Tournament Edition Fightstick is where it’s at. Quite a few of us own that stick. Brook seems to be the king of the fightsticks though coz he builds his own and has about a bazillion lying about his house lmao!!!

yeah he’s right. The best retail joystick is the madcatz TOURNAMENT EDITION fightstick. Just keep in mind that they are going to release the new version within the next two months so if you buy one now you might get burned for two reasons. The current version will probly drop in price and if you get the current one you will see the new improved ones and get mad so I say hold out for like another month and a half and get the new tournament edition “S” sticks that madcatz will be releasing.

Whatever you do make sure you get the TOURNAMENT EDITION because it will last longer. The tournament edition has real japanese arcade parts. The standard does not. The extra 20+ dollars will be worth it.

Ok thanks Scat. Thanks Brook. Thanks for the info on the new one coming out. I don’t know what I’ll do cause I’m really geeked to get on these fighting games. Street Fighter 4 in particular and I was going to pick up the stick and game this Thursdsay when I get my pay or mayble the weekend. Month and a half isn’t that long but it’s long.(know what I mean). Cause I plan on buying two sticks so if one of my boys comes over we can fight. What I may do is buy the one now and then buy the second when the new one comes out. But how many changes do you think the new stick will really have except graphics? Is the specks posted for the new stick maybe I will compare features. Your right about the price drop though Brook. It would hurt to buy the stick now and then see a signifcant drop in a month or so cause that stick and ain’t cheap!

Brook the customs sticks you got up there are sick. One thing I noticed is that you said you made it wireless cause most of them are sold wired correct? I saw one that you said a dude in Toronto sent you some of the parts. I’m in Toronto can you send me a link to that dude?

Yeah all of the Madcatz joysticks are wired. The only joysticks that are not are the Wii ones and The Tekken 6 Joystick that came out recently.

The quality on these are not as good as the Madcatz tournament sticks.

Finkle is my dude from Toronto who made most of my cases. he built the cases and I wired up the insides. My consoles are in a different room from my big hdtv so at the time I needed wireless.

Now I have a usb to cat5b to usb run by my couch so its not an issue but then it was. Long story might have mentioned it on the podcast if not ill mention it next week.

He doesn’t have a website and if you do order from him it takes up to 6 months to get your order but his prices are great and you can get just about anything you want. 6 mthns that’s too long for me. That hori tekken one looks good. Might look into that one. Probably just end up getting the mad Catz one though. Wire is that much of a prob for me but it would be nice to have wireless. Also my boy is looking to get a stick and wires is more of a prob for him cause his TV is far from his console.

I did not care for the buttons, but love the hori stick. The Stick is more fluent then the EX2/EX3

Ok. So Talon which stick do you use. What’s your main stick. I just got back from Gamestop and they were showing me the new Marvel vs Capcom tournament stick. That ish is sweet. Dude at the store was also telling me that the it’s better than the Street fighter 4 tournament stick because the ST4 stick rotates like an octagon..meaning you can feel the corners when you rotate it, but the MvsCap stick is more of a fluid circle motion just like the arcade. Shit’s expensive though they were telling me it cost $180 bones, that wouldn’t be so bad if they threw in the game. They should throw in the game with that shit. Maybe I will trade in some games to lessen the cost. Like that MW2…lol..not a big fan of that shit!

Dude was talking bullshit. He’s so way off. First off octagonal is worse for street fighter for the most part because you cant feel the corners when you do dragon punches if its too round. (octagonal vs square)

And two… both editions of the joysticks has the same kind of gates and the exact same joysicks. Both have square gates. Hes pulling that shit out his ass. They both feature Sanwa JLF sticks in them with SQUARE GATES. You can spend like 10 bucks to buy the piece to put under the joystick to make then octagonal. Or matter of fact I can mail you the octagonal shit free because its total shit and I have like 4 octagonal gates I dont ever use because square is soo much better for street fighter.

You can get a tournament edition stick for like $129 on amazon with free shipping that store is full of shit. lol run!

Ok heres the deal

a GATE is the piece that snaps on under the joysticks that RESTRICT the movement of the stick to the directions. With octagonal there are more sides.

With standard 4 way you get up down left right and the diagonals when you dig into the corner (doiwn right motion) for your dragon punches you feel it more. Unless you using Zangief for spinning pildrivers dont go octagonal.

I have a better chance htiiing that diagonal with the square one. Meaning SHORUKEN in your face is more likely to activate if my stick has it. lol.

ok thanks for the info Brook. Makes more sense. Man I didn’t know joysticks got that deep. Sounds like the type of gate one may have can really effect ones play. So Brook wouldn’t a completely circular gate be the best even over a square gate. Are there any joystics that have a circular gate? From what I got your saying that the ST4 or MvsCap tournament sticks both have square gates (same exact stick) which is better then the octagon gate but wouldn’t a circular be the best?

Just like Brook said, he is a liar. Octogates are best for Shmups, i.e. Ikaruga, Raiden Fighters. Two of my teammates have Octo, but everybody else hate them. With a Box, you can cheat on your moves. Charge characters have neutral position, back corner spot, where they can just push for or up initiate their special move. Square over Octo anyday. I hate the feeling. You feel ever groove, but I was told that it easier to play MvC2 on a Octo over a Box.

To me it is easier to perform 360 spinning Piledriver on a Box, then a Octo. Tell that guy to go to ShoRyuken.com to get his information correct, lying ass employee.

Ok well I got the Marvel/Capcom stick. It feels like it it has the octo gate. Not happy about that but I’ll have to try it out and see how it goes.Graphic is sick though!

I have the Marvel and the SFIV TE stick. They are both BOX. If you can move from bottom left corner to bottom right corner in a line. You have a Box. And my Marvel TE stick is a Box bro.
