09/09/2009 at 3:17 am #12718Quote:It appears that Sega may actually have been listening. After years and years of (mostly) awful 3D Sonic games, the company is now teasing something called “Project Needlemouse”, billed as a return to the Sonic of old.
“Old-school Sonic fans have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay” says Sega of America’s Ken Balough. “Many liked the daytime stages in Unleashed, but wanted to see a game that plays purely similar to the early games of the Genesis. Project Needlemouse is that critical first step that brings Sonic back to his 2D roots.”
The teaser clip’s tagline reads “Speed returns, in an all new 2D adventure built from the ground up”, with Balough confirming the game will, rather than be a retro-remake, be an all-new game built in HD.
It’ll be out in 2010. No word on platforms, but the “HD” bit certainly narrows it down. What do you think, Sega fans? Do you dare to hope?
I hope this turns out good

Make if 2D
Make it HD (Full 1080p)
Make it a DOWNLOADABLE title.Sega have already said that when they make these full price Sonic games that they can’t just make it like everone remembers from the Mega Drive era because it would mean them having a ton of levels of basically the same thing. Running from left to right. Thats why they have introduced all these other dumb concepts.
So the simple solution is stop being greedy, make it a downloadable title for around $15.
Have around 6 or 7 stages, each with 3 acts and then it’s a sure fire hit.09/09/2009 at 9:57 am #4035309/09/2009 at 1:41 pm #4035509/09/2009 at 3:52 pm #40361Scatigno;30014 wrote:If they want to make a great Sonic game all they have to do isMake if 2D

So, it would be totally acceptable to rehash some of the old (successful) ideas and game design. Maybe a 2-D game (in HD ofcourse) that has chaos gem stages that are a flash back to Sonic Adventures 1. Hello, sega sounds like gamemanx jus saved your Hedgehog…Thanks and your welcome.

Agreed, thats kinda my point. I think they need to stop try’n to “reinvent” Sonic and keep it simple. Nobody wants to run around exploring shit or talk to a bunch of random villagers! Its a simple, yet fun, formula based on speed, avoiding traps, beautiful level design and figuring out boss patterns. Look at how much fun other old school games (TMNT remix, Street Fighter, etc.) are, they’re good because they updated visuals and introduced new play elements while keepin true to what made them great games. Maybe they should sell the Sonic rights to Nintendo…they seem to understand how to make a winning mascot and keep him on top, cus deep down we are all rooting for The Blue Blur!!! Right?

09/11/2009 at 9:46 pm #40428Sorry but this guy need to die. Sonic, Laura Croft, the whole Mortal Kombat Series, and anything that have Dragon Ball in it.
I do not want Trophies, Money or not even a title saying I am number "1". You can have your cheap trophies, paper titles, and dingy headbands. I am a "STORY" to my peers, a "LEGEND" for your kids to hear, and a "FOLKLORE" to keep you from dieing with fear - Calvin D. Kates aka Chauncy "TRU" Talon.
