Eurogamer Tests New Xbox Experience: DVD vs. Hard Disk Install

      For those interested in finding out if the upcoming New Xbox Experience game install feature will be worth the time and effort Eurogamer has you covered. They pit some of the most popular Xbox 360 games loading speed on disc and compared those speeds to HDD install loads. They even compared the 20GB hard drive to the 120GB hard drive and the 20GB drive was about a second slower in most cases. It would have been nice to see console temperature comparisons. I am interested in seeing how hot the console gets inside when played from disc compared to temperatures when played on an HDD install. In any case the Orange box seemed to gain the biggest performance boost of all tested with load times almost twice as fast from the HDD install. Oddly enough Halo 3 took longer to load from the install than from disc. Check out the comparison here.

          I heard Gears of War 2 was huge, and so is Assassin’s Creed. And all those folks that have that new dashboard have also been banned, if the downloaded it off the net even without being online with it. Don’t know how but it all over the net.

          I do not want Trophies, Money or not even a title saying I am number "1". You can have your cheap trophies, paper titles, and dingy headbands. I am a "STORY" to my peers, a "LEGEND" for your kids to hear, and a "FOLKLORE" to keep you from dieing with fear - [b]Calvin D. Kates aka Chauncy "TRU" Talon. [/b]

            Damn thats crazy. To be honest though i don’t think i’ll be using the install feature much. Reason being i only got a 20GB hard drive and there is hardly any room on it anyway.
            I don’t understand why they say you get 20GB’s coz when i first put mine on i only had 13GB’s so what the fuck is all that about.

              I don’t have much room on my hard drive but after reading all of these different articles about how much time is actually being taken off of the loading times I won’t be using this feature that much.

                It is supposed to drastically reduce the noise coming from the 360 if you run the install games though.

                  This is to help the disk drive on your 360. I have blown 2 of them right now, and had the Red Ring of Death (RROD) 4 times. I’m looking forward for this, when I grab my 120 GB HDD.

                    I haven’t had that much of a problem with noise coming from the 360 since I had to send in my original 360 for repairs.
