Quote:The Orange Box is a video game compilation for Microsoft Windows, the Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3. The Windows and Xbox 360 versions were produced and published by Valve Corporation and released on October 10, 2007 as both a boxed retail copy and a Windows-only download through Valve’s Steam service. The PlayStation 3 version was produced by Electronic Arts and released on December 11, 2007 in North America and in Europe. Valve has also released a soundtrack containing music from the games within the compilation.
The compilation contains five games, all powered by Valve’s Source engine. Two of the games included, Half-Life 2 and its first expansion, Episode One, were previously released as separate products. Three new games are also contained within the compilation: the second expansion, Half-Life 2: Episode Two; the puzzle game Portal; and Team Fortress 2, the multiplayer game sequel to the Quake modification, Team Fortress. A separate product entitled The Black Box was planned, which would have included only the new games, but it was cancelled.
The Orange Box has received critical acclaim and Portal was recognized as a surprise favorite of the package. The PlayStation 3 version of The Orange Box has been noted for several technical shortcomings that were not present in the other versions, which were later fixed through various patches.[10]I must say Half Life 2 is one of the best shooter games I have ever played. I had the Orange box since last winter and randomly put it the disc back in last week. Half Life 2 starts out soooooo slow. The first 45 minutes is really slow paced but after that it ramps up rediculously fast and the game is VERY VERY FUN. The shooter action is top notch. :^:
Lots of cool weapons, and has one of the best story integrations I have seen in any game. Metal gear Solid 4 should have copied what they did in this game in terms of how they relay the story. The AI is good, the dialog/writing is good. The characters look good when they talk to you. The game is pure quality. I am only half way through and still have the other two half life episodes to play but I am SUPER impressed.
If you can manage through the first 45 minutes its totally worth it. Orange Box is like $29-$39 in most stores and for the first half life game alone is totally worth it not to mention two more sequels are also included that I ahvent played yet.
Anyone else played through or finished it?

WTF… where are the big guns… LOL but when it picks up its the bomb for real. Now I got the rocket launcher with the lazer seeker guide and the shotgun and two different machine guns.
I randomly saw a review of it last week and I was like how the fuck did they rate this game so damn high? Then every other review I saw it was also rated high. Im glad I gave it another shot. Now im hooked.
The shit has a 96 out of 100 on metacritic.. lol

I do not want Trophies, Money or not even a title saying I am number "1". You can have your cheap trophies, paper titles, and dingy headbands. I am a "STORY" to my peers, a "LEGEND" for your kids to hear, and a "FOLKLORE" to keep you from dieing with fear - Calvin D. Kates aka Chauncy "TRU" Talon.

Crowbar
Melee WeaponThe same old weapon we know and love from the first game. Use it to play whack-a-mole with headcrabs, scanners and manhacks.

USP Match
Hand GunSimply a standard side arm, the pistol is great for taking out headcrabs and setting explosive barrels on fire. It is also a godsend after you have run around with nothing but a crowbar and foul language.

.357 Magnum
Hand GunSimilar to the original .357 from half-life, this one does not have a zoom function. It also doesn’t carry as much ammunition. However, it packs a massive punch, and you will forget about any shortcomings the first time you see a Combine flip from a headshot.

SPAS-12
ShotgunEssentially the same beast as HL1, with both single and double fire. It is a powerful, effective weapon at close range, great for taking out zombies and antlions. The one main difference between it and its predecessor is that it only holds 6 shells, so conserve your ammo!

MP-7
Sub-Machine GunThe MP7 is a respectable little submachine gun with a high rate of fire but fairly low level of damage. To make up for that it also has a grenade launcher alternate fire that can be very useful in tight situations.

Zero Point Enery Field Manipulator (GRAVITY GUN!!)
Experimental WeaponThe greatest weapon ever made. The gravity gun can be used to interact with almost every non-organic object in the game. It turns barrels and propane tanks into bludgeons of death, and makes retrieving weapons, health and ammunition child’s play.

Organic Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator (GRAVITY GUN)
Experimental WeaponSame as the Grav. Gun, only this beast picks up even bigger objects and can grab and throw living things too.

Overwatch Standard Issue Pulse Rifle
Combine Assault RifleUsing the omnipresent Combine pulse technology, the Combine Assault Rifle does devastating amounts of damage quickly, at the expense of ammunition at a high rate. The alternate fire shoots a plasma ball that bounces around like a giant rubber ball, killing anything it touches outright (with the exception of some of the larger foes).

Crossbow
Ranged WeaponThe new crossbow is a sniper’s dream. It fires a piece of heated rebar over a long distance, and can be used to pin people to wall. It is a one shot one kill weapon against all but the toughest enemies.

HE Grenade
Explosive WeaponSimilar to the grenade in the first game, but better. You no longer have to worry about accidental suicide because you pulled the pin and didn’t throw it right away. Grenades leave a trail of red light in their wake when thrown, making them easy to see. The Combine have the same grenades, but you can snatch them out of the air with the gravity gun and launch them back at the thrower before it explodes.

Pheropod
Antlion Guard OrganA lovely little organ from the inside of an antlion guard, pheropods can be used to make the local colony of antlions your bitch! The regular antlions will not attack you once you get them and you can both call and direct up to four at a time. They aren’t completely useless if there are no antlions around since you can effectively “mace” Combine with a direct hit from one.

RPG Launcher
Explosive WeaponStill the best tool around for taking out flying targets. The HL2 version lacks the alternate fire that turns off the targeting laser, but who used that mode anyway?
