Xbox Live’s Top 10: 8/4 – 8/10

August 14, 2008 – People like playing Halo. They did when the Xbox first launched. They bought the sequel in droves. Now the third entrant in the trilogy has shown that it has more legs than any other game. Call of Duty 4 had a good run, but Halo 3 has reclaimed its throne with a vengeance. The big surprise on this list is Braid coming in at number nine. Complaints about the high price and short length of the Xbox Live Arcade game apparently didn’t deter gamers from investing time and money.
With Braid cracking the most played games list, it’s not too surprising that it is also the most purchased XBLA game of the past week. Geometry Wars 2 has fallen to the second spot with much of the rest of the list holding steady.
The Top Live Titles list, as reported by Major Nelson, ranks unique users playing Xbox 360 games while connected to Live. The Top Arcade Titles list is based on the number of full versions sold in a given week.
