Firmware 2.40 Finally Dated

Sony has kindly put a date on the eagerly awaited firmware update for the PlayStation 3, with version 2.40 dated for July 2.

Introducing the oft-cried out for in game cross media bar, as well as the implementation of the achievement-esque trophies, it’s one of the most significant updates for Sony’s console. So far, BUZZ! Quiz TV, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, NBA 09, PAIN, PixelJunk Eden, Resistance 2, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation and Warhawk are all in line to receive the trophy treatment, with last year’s Super Stardust HD also set to include in the feature.

A steady dripfeed of information is available at Sony’s official blog, and we’ll have an in-depth appraisal of how the new features figure in action later today.

Oh thats nice. So the only games that will be getting the trophy treatment at the moment are games that are not even out yet and games that i don’t intend to buy.
