its alot different then electrical, cable, or phone line outages due to the fact that if one of those 3 goes out, they stop charging you for it until it goes back up.

You can use a credit card or buy the 1 month, 3 month or the 12+1 month cards I see all the time from any store that sells games and shit, or get a free month when your shit breaks and microsoft has to fix it. I got two month for the times they had to repair mine.
